Quito
Quito is the capital of the Republic of Ecuador. It spreads over an area of about 290 km² and is home to over 1.5 Mio people. Ongoing migration means that the city is constantly growing and extending and the city’s agglomeration covers an area of around 1000 km² and has ca. 2 Mio inhabitants. The geographical location of the city is unique, situated at 2850 m above sea level and embedded between the two ranges of the Andes. The volcanoes Pichincha, Cotopaxi, Antizana and Cayambe sit in its background providing a beautiful backdrop to the city.
