Social work
Our team of social workers works in the streets and builds up the first contacts with the children or/and their families where they identify situations in line with the projects aims. The social workers assess the situations enabling us to follow up in terms of the health, education and guidance needed, or to offer social support for the children and their families.
Through regular visits to the families’ homes ongoing contact between the social workers and families is guaranteed. Intervention can often stop psychological and physical mistreatment as well as domestic violence and the communication within the families can be improved.
It is of the utmost importance that the contact to the families is sustained and the role of mediator between the youths and their social surroundings remains in place as it is this unstable and fragile relationship with their families that often leads to children being on the street. We try to negotiate agreements with the parents so as to guarantee support of the children's academic progress, the activities within the project, in the future work and the development of the children as a whole.
